This strategy will aim to set out an approach to ease existing pressure on parking capacity as well as ensure that there is provision for future population growth and associated development in the next ten years. As part of the approach and on behalf of the government, SYSTRA, a specialist transport consultancy, is consulting with residents and businesses to gain a full understanding of driving and parking behaviours, as well as attitudes towards key parking issues and opportunities. SYSTRA are looking to engage with businesses to understand how they view parking with respect to their employees, visitors and customers and what opportunities they think there might be to improve parking provision for businesses.
Businesses are invited to participate in a workshop where the current parking situation will be discussed, what is important to businesses with respect to parking, as well as gaining opinion on potential changes that could be included in the strategy.
This feedback will be critical to the development of the parking strategy. The workshop will take the form of a brief presentation on the development of the strategy followed by break out groups with discussions led by a SYSTRA colleague focused on key parking issues and potential changes.
