British Chambers of Commerce | The Future of Trade | May 2022

In her first visit to the Island, Anne-Marie presented the BCC’s research and findings linked to the release of their trade manifesto.

Date: Friday 06 May 2022

Chamber members and attendees from the BITA delegation currently on Island joined us at the Claremont Hotel to hear from our guest, Anne-Marie Martin, Director of Global Business Networks from the British Chambers of Commerce (BCC).

In her first visit to the Island, Anne-Marie presented the BCC’s research and findings linked to the release of their trade manifesto.

The research highlighted the challenges exporters are facing and steps that the UK Government could take to help businesses trade with the EU.

The findings identified that when it comes to trade connectivity, face 2 face support, networks, finding partners and trade missions are all vital.  Business support, market access and entry were also highlighted.

During the q&a, we gauged the number of businesses who were already trading either in services or products.

We have a role to play in assisting our members who want to start or grow in export of their products or services.  In particular encouraging SME’s to consider if trading with other countries is a possibility.  Our connectivity with the British Chambers of Commerce is a key driver in this and we will be continuing our work in this area to offer our members the support they need.
