Adriana Santoro of Envision Lifestyle – Peak Performance Coaching.

Tell us about your career to date and did you envision this is where you would be?

My career started short after my Degree in Tourism & Hospitality in which I worked within the Events industry organising, planning, and executing all kinds of events from Seminars to Exhibitions. I then decided to move to the USA, Canada, the UK and finally landed in the Isle of Man where I focus my career within Hospitality, being curious I experienced all the departments and moved from Conference & Banqueting Porter to become General Manager, and for the past 30 years I felt privilege for the opportunities I was given. I worked for brands like Marriott International, De Vere Hotel & Resort, Cavendish Hotel, and Crowne Plaza International. They all taught me valuable lessons and making me stronger. Now, I embrace my own future as a Professional Coach where I have the pleasure to help and support individuals, through my company Envision Lifestyle – Peak Performance Coach.

Given your role and experience, what kind of advice and expertise could you offer a mentee who has signed up to the Chamber Advisory platform?

As a mentor and supporting Chamber of Commerce initiative, I can advice individuals that are within Supervisory, Managerial and Leadership roles to follow and embrace aspects of the business and promote self-development. Understanding the Key Performance Indicators and the steps that will bring you to achieve your goals. If you are the ‘boss’ or aspiring to be one you will need to be aware of certain requirements and process to adhere when ensuring you are providing results at the same time. Areas that I can further support would be Customer Journey, Guest Satisfaction, Commercial Acumen and more specific to Hospitality how to control and manage Food & Beverage GP (Gross Profit), and Room Management.

What motivates you?

I am motivated by my teams/client’s success, learning about people’s culture, and interested, but focusing on my self-development is a great reward as I know I will be able to impact someone’s else by continuing to educate myself and learning to be self-aware.

What is your biggest success and how did you achieve it?

My biggest achievement it was when I opened my own Events Business when I was only 19 years old. I was passionate about what I was doing, and it required self-discipline, determination, will-power, and a set of good habits to ensure the success of the events we organised, but I must admit that the support network I had was a key element to keep me going… I learnt a lot during this time and not everything was perfect, during this time we were taking for granted and many businesspersons tried to take advantage of how naive and inexperienced we were, but we must start from somewhere and that made us more determinate to succeed. So, never let anyone get in the way of your dreams and goals, be sure to know who you are.

Tell us about your biggest failure and what you learnt from that experience?

When I was a teenager, I always wanted to work in a particular newspaper (the best) within their Tourism Supplement, this was a dream, and a position was available which I applied for it but was unsuccessful. In life we go through so many failures, and those failures can determine our path and the key principle is always believe that we are meant to better things, if one door closes another open, as it was from this failure, I achieve my biggest success. So, my biggest lesson is having FAITH and remember Failure is just an opportunity to learn new lessons and re-invent yourself.

What are your strengths?

My key strengths are planning & organising, people development, customer service, problem solver, Management skills, leading a team, process driven, coaching, mentoring, good listener, and honest in given feedback.

What are your weaknesses?

I lack interest in IT, not good as a public speaker, I can be impatient at times (but fully aware of it), lack interest in social media, numbers can be overwhelming, and many others.

How do you balance your work and home life?

I make sure to block time in my diary for the things I like to do outside work.

I have breaks, meditate, take time to go for a walk, I do things I am passionate about like making time to spend with friends, read a good book, have a laugh, have a list of my hobbies, spend time with nature, help others, have time for self-development.

What are you trying to accomplish this year?

To be recognised as a Professional Personal and Performance Coach and an expert within my field via Envision Lifestyle – Peak Performance Coaching. I would like to serve and support individuals that are serious in investing in themselves, personally and professionally, by helping them to create a state of joy and happiness with a strong emotional, mental, physical and spiritual sense of wellbeing.

If you could give your younger self one piece of advice, what would that be?

Remember; believe in the power of the positive thinking and have faith. Be ready to be fuelled by your own inner strength, personal power, strong will and you have the ability to overcome any obstacle. Trust and enjoy it!

Did you ever have a mentor, and do you have any mentors in your life right now?

Yes, I had a mentor that not only supported me but inspire me and I also have a Coach. I use both disciplines to support my development where and when I feel I need the most at the time of my life.
