Tell us about your business?

Computer Network Defence Ltd are a UK and Isle of Man-based cyber security consultancy with an extremely broad spectrum of capability. CND was founded in 2004 as a family business by CEO Andy Cuff. With Andy’s background in military computing and communications, he progressed into information security which then led him to enter the newly emerging field of cyber security over 20 years ago.

Since then, we have built an extensive portfolio of Consultancy capabilities, which we deliver worldwide, from small businesses to globally recognised brands. Our client base spans both the Public and Private sector, which ranges from farmers to bankers and from spacecrafts to ships. We pride ourselves on being deeply technical and providing innovative solutions and a customisable service to our clients.

What services do you offer?

Ensuring our clients’ business information is safe is our fundamental objective. At CND, we provide a range of services to meet our clients’ needs, spanning the cyber security lifecycle, with the four key stages of Assess, Protect, Detect, and Respond aimed at providing security against cyber threats from pre- to post-attack.

The breadth of our services ranges from finding and fixing vulnerabilities within our clients’ networks, and from monitoring all things cyber flowing in and out of a business, through to helping our clients respond and regain control in the event of an incident, right down to helping businesses get certified for Cyber Essentials, a government-endorsed certification which focuses on five key controls to ensure basic cyber security measures are in place.

Alongside providing consultancy services, we are also the UK’s oldest independent cyber security recruitment agency, through which we supply our industry partners with both permanent and contract staff.

Do you have any events coming up or current projects you can share with us?

With the end of lockdown we have attended a number of events already this year, with many planned for Q4 of 2022, including Cyber Isle which will be in the Comis hotel on the 19th October.

We always have a number of exciting cyber security research projects on the go, many this year are around Industrial Control Systems (ICS) and the Internet of Things (IoT).

We’ve also been exploring Space and boldly going where nobody has been before, well… we’ve been providing cyber security for satellites, which is exciting as the attackers are often nation state.  We have some plans to expand this capability further.

Unfortunately, many projects are insufficiently advanced at this moment to declare them, as they are extremely innovative and are therefore still under wraps for now.

What are your plans and goals for the future?

To continue growing the team. We are recruiting heavily on the Island, looking for more cyber warriors and other support staff, our growth is increasing exponentially, which is especially impressive as we have no sales staff, all enquiries are as a result of word of mouth and reputation, which is further testimony to the excellent team we have on the Island.

Where are you based and how can people contact you?

Our primary SOC is based in the Isle of Man which we set up in 2016, whilst our head office and secondary SOC are based in Corsham. We also have a research unit located in the United States.

For further information on our services, please visit our website at www.cndltd.com. For any enquiries, please do not hesitate to reach out to us at CND.Enquiries@CNDltd.com.

Finally, why is Chamber membership so important to you?

Being part of a network that brings together the highly dynamic businesses based in the Isle of Man has been invaluable to us over the past years. The Chamber allows us to share business opportunities with the other companies which helps everyone to grow and to learn from the experience of other Island businesses.
