Tell us about your business?

Manx Telecom is the leading telecommunications provider on the Isle of Man and our operations touch the lives of almost every individual and business on the Island. Our purpose is to deliver reliable and resilient connectivity at home and around the world. Continuous investment in our infrastructure empowers the Island, and its people, to contribute as a global centre of excellence for ebusiness and new technologies.

What services do you offer?

We provide a full range of fixed line, mobile, broadband and secure data storage services. Our Strand Store and Corporate Sales teams provide advice on a range of devices and hardware for the home and for businesses ranging from small to large enterprises. Other businesses in the Manx Telecom group include OV, which offers a growing portfolio of innovative hosting and “Smart SIM” solutions to customers worldwide, and Synapse360, which provides 24/7 managed services in partnership with some of the world’s most trusted technology companies including Dell and Microsoft.

Do you have any events coming up or current projects you can share with us?

Our key programme at present is the fibre broadband rollout programme as the Isle of Man Government’s chosen provider to deliver the National Broadband Plan. The widespread rollout and adoption of fibre is considered to be a game changer for the Isle of Man as it is expected to propel the Island into the top ten fastest jurisdictions for broadband speed, increasing our attractiveness to businesses and enhancing the lives of residents in an increasingly connected world. Enabling smarter, faster operations, fibre not only offers improved connectivity, it opens the door to the application of future technology in a way that traditional copper broadband could never do.

What are your plans and goals for the future?

Our focus will always be on how we can best keep the Island connected and how we can create long term sustainable employment here on the Isle of Man, through the growth of Manx Telecom and the other companies in the group, OV and Synapse360. Ongoing investment will be key to enable us to support further advances in technology and changing customer demands.

More specifically, we have recently updated our ESG roadmap which includes some major environmental initiatives, particularly around renewable energy. As one of the biggest tech companies on the Island, with the largest data centre market share, we are always looking at ways to reduce our carbon footprint and dependence on our fossil fuels. These plans, along with our commitment to providing excellent customer service and being a responsible employer, will drive many of our activities over the coming years.

Where are you based and how can people contact you?

Our headquarters are at the Isle of Man Business Park in Braddan and customers can get in touch by calling 624624 for our customer services team. We also have the Manx Telecom store on Strand Street in Douglas which is open seven days a week plus you’ll find lots of information on our website at www.manxtelecom.com

Finally, why is Chamber membership so important to you?

Chamber of Commerce membership connects us with other businesses in the Isle of Man and gives us a chance to talk about industry developments and business opportunities with other companies on the Island – and to feedback issues, concerns and ideas to Government with a united voice. As a responsible employer, it is important to us to keep up to date with changes in the Island’s employment landscape and ensure we are adopting best practices for our own people. Being part of Chamber also helps us to understand how developments in other sectors may affect our own and provides opportunities for businesses to work together for the greater good of the Isle of Man and its people.
