Chamber Wellbeing in the Workplace week | Sleep and the workplace with Simply Sleep | June 2022

According to the NHS, "A solid night's sleep is essential for a long and healthy life". Yet only 5% of new parents are getting the recommended amount of sleep each night and for 59% of parents this sleep deprivation continues on average for the first six years. The impact that this prolonged sleep deficit has on their wellbeing can be significant, from a general lack of energy and focus to an increased likelihood of serious physical and mental illness. As a result of sleep deprivation, businesses will often see a reduction in productivity, an increase in workplace errors and a rise in working days lost due to sickness and absence.

In this workshop we will discuss how sleep deprivation may manifest itself amongst your workforce and help you understand the short and long-term wellbeing and economic risks this brings. We will talk about what good sleep looks like and will advise how you can better support sleep health within your organisation. As a result, you will be able to support more parents to successfully return to work, improve their physical, mental and social health outcomes and prevent parental burn-out.
