KPMG raises over £6,000 for Isle Listen and nominates Project 21 as new chosen charity | May 2022

Staff at KPMG in the Crown Dependencies have raised £6,310 for Isle Listen, the charitable Manx initiative that provides support and training in schools, the workplace and community, helping people to recognise that mental health is just as important as physical health.

Date: Wednesday 11 May 2022

The money was raised over the past two years through a variety of events and challenges, including dress-down days and cake sales. The proceeds from a quiz night, supported by local corporate teams, also contributed significantly towards the total while also raising and maintaining awareness of the activities of Isle Listen in the community, during a period where COVID-19 has had an impact on the mental health of many people.

Kristan King, Head of Citizenship at KPMG in the Crown Dependencies, said, “In what’s been a difficult couple of years for fundraising, with the removal of so many of our usual charity events due to COVID-19, we’re delighted to be able to make this contribution to Isle Listen.”

Rebecca Macnair, Corporate and Community Engagement for Isle Listen, comments, “We are very grateful to the staff at KPMG for their generosity. Their incredible donation will help us continue providing our vital Mental Health early intervention and education services for our Island’s young people, empowering them with the skills and emotional resilience to navigate the challenges of 21st century life.”

As one fundraising partnership comes to a close, KPMG has announced that its next chosen charity will be Project 21, a collective of five local charities working together to maintain and operate ‘Centre 21’, a facility providing a range of activities for people with learning difficulties.

The five charities are Manx Mencap, Down’s Syndrome Isle of Man, Autism in Mann, Manx Gateway and the Special Olympics Isle of Man. The centre was opened in 2007 and, since then, Centre 21 has been in use by various charities, and as a result many of these charities have been able to extend the range of activities they can offer their members from drama and music to all kinds of sport.

Having met with those leading the project, KPMG is excited to embark on fundraising activities for such a worthy cause.
