Tell us about your business?

NK Construction Ltd is a local family-run company formed in 1980 (originally as NK Joinery Ltd), specialising in all aspects of Construction and Civil Engineering. Our business is driven by the needs of our clients and our staff are motivated by providing unrivalled levels of expertise and the very best service.

Over more than four decades, we have earned an enviable reputation for consistently delivering outstanding results in all aspects of every market where we work - whether public, private, commercial or government.

We are proud of our success and proud of our people, whose skills, proficiency and dedication have achieved so much recognition.

We are a traditionally-run island-based business, directly employing over 50 staff which means we are easily able to handle large construction projects, yet still maintain the personal touch so valued by our team and customers alike – all the while offering a thoroughly professional experience and advice in every aspect of construction, planning and regulation.

We continue to adapt with the ever-changing construction processes and needs, especially with regards to the Isle of Man Government’s Climate Change Plan to cut emissions and be net zero by 2050. This is evidenced by the considerable investment we have undertaken in both training and infrastructure for our current projects in Castletown and Douglas, both of which are highly energy efficient AECB (Association of Environment Conscious Building) projects. As well as the BREEAM certification systems for a sustainable built environment, currently being undertaken at the Former Nurses Home for Manx Development Corporation. We were also delighted to have become a Business Partner of UNESCO Biosphere Isle of Man last year.

It is our aim to continue to expand our client base, which not only includes private and commercial clients but also Government and Local Authorities.

Where are you based and how can people contact you?

We are based at Unit 5, Spring Valley Industrial Estate, Douglas, IM2 2QT and can be contacted on 671537 or by email at info@nkconstruction.co.im.

Finally, why is Chamber membership so important to you?

Les Nicol Managing Director of NK Construction said “We are proud to have been a member of the Chamber for several years now and feel that becoming a sustaining member shows our confidence in the Chamber and its membership. Even though we are now in our 43rd year, we must continue to grow and develop. Becoming a sustaining member is an important part of this growth and our business strategy. By adopting this approach, we also believe that we can support the Isle of Man Governments plans to grow the population and economy. I strongly believe that a vibrant and diverse local construction sector is of paramount importance to ensure that the islands infrastructure is in place for this to happen, not just for the present but also for our islands future”.
