Date: Tuesday 08 November 2022
Taking place at Comis Hotel & Golf Resort on Monday 28th November from 9:30am, Manx resident and author David Elyan will speak about his life in publishing and market research, as well as his time collecting works of art and rare books.
The talk will draw on his recently-published book, Serendipitous Tales, written during the COVID lockdowns, which spans everything from David’s Jewish ancestors’ escape from the Spanish Inquisition in 1492 and his childhood in Ireland, to his meetings with Princess Diana and experience as a Trustee of the Royal Albert Hall.
Tickets cost £25 and include a full English breakfast, pastries and tea & coffee.
Sight Matters Volunteers Coordinator & Events Organiser, Debbie Thomson, said: ‘We’re delighted to have secured David as a guest for this year’s Author’s Breakfast. His story is incredibly fascinating and provides real insight into a variety of times and places. If you’d like to find out more about David and his life, we invite you to join us for what will be an incredibly interesting morning.
‘I’d like to say a big thank you to Isle of Man Fund for the Blind for helping to organise the event, which will raise all-important funds for the work we do on the Island. The breakfast is a highly anticipated event and a highlight of the Sight Matters’ calendar, so we would advise booking tickets sooner rather than later to avoid disappointment.’
Sight Matters looks after the interests of and provides support and services to more than 500 blind and visually impaired people in the Isle of Man, relying entirely on fundraising, donations and legacies.
Tickets for the Author’s Breakfast are available by calling 674727 or emailing events@sightmatters.im. A raffle with a great selection of prizes will also be held on the day.
