Standard Bank IoM announced as major sponsor of Big Splash 2022 | May 2022

Standard Bank Isle of Man is delighted to announce it will be a large sculpture sponsor for local community initiative ‘The Big Splash 2022’.

Date: Monday 16 May 2022

The Big Splash is the largest mass participation art event to ever come to the Isle of Man and will see a trail of 33 life size dolphin sculptures take centre stage on a public art trail, live around the Island for 12 weeks between May and September 2022.

Standard Bank Isle of Man, a leading provider of international financial products that delivers a range of international services for personal, professional, and corporate clients, will be joining a host of other local businesses in sponsoring the large sculptures.

The art trail, which aims to create community cohesion, while celebrating the Island’s marine environment and local artistic talent, will also be supporting local charity Hospice Isle of Man. Once the trail has closed, each sculpture will be auctioned, with all proceeds donated to the Hospice Isle of Man’s end of life and palliative care services.

Chris Till, Chief Executive Officer at Standard Bank Isle of Man, commented: ‘Standard Bank Isle of Man is delighted to be supporting Hospice Isle of Man and The Big Splash initiative. The vital work that the charity carries out both at the Hospice, and within the community, is truly remarkable. As a local organisation we are privileged to be taking part in this wonderful project.

‘This is a fantastic opportunity for our island community to come together, celebrate the Isle of Man’s natural marine habitat, our local artists and what’s on our doorstep. I hope residents and visitors to the Island take the opportunity to explore the trail and experience the Island’s beautiful coastline and pristine shores – all while having fun and supporting an incredibly worthwhile local cause.’

Anne Mills, Chief Executive Officer for Hospice Isle of Man, added: ‘We are absolutely delighted to have Standard Bank Isle of Man involved as, thanks to them and our other corporate partners, this will contribute towards the overall cost of our Hospice services for our patients and their families - and for that we are hugely grateful.

‘The Big Splash initiative will create a trail of discovery across the Isle of Man and encourage residents and visitors alike to explore our unique Island from an exciting new perspective. It’s also a great platform to promote the Island’s UNESCO Biosphere status and encourage general wellbeing and active living - and we can’t wait to work with the Standard Bank team and their artist to make this happen.’

Over 40 baby dolphins (calves) will also be commissioned by 30 schools from across the Island as a part of The Big Splash project, working with the Hospice’s education partner the Isle of Man Arts Council, to design the baby dolphins, which will join the large-scale sculptures on a separate indoor trail.
