Chamber gala dinner raises funds for Isle Listen project

Date: Friday 25 October 2019

A raffle held at this year’s Isle of Man Chamber of Commerce gala dinner raised £1,700 for the Isle Listen project which is run by MCH Psychological Services (formerly Manx Cancer Help).

Rebecca George, CEO, Isle of Man Chamber of Commerce, thanked all of the guests at the gala dinner who contributed to the fundraising total. Isle Listen is Chamber’s chosen charity for the next two years, and the Island’s biggest business network is also planning initiatives to provide further support for the charity and the Isle Listen project.

Isle Listen is the first charitable project of its kind to be created and delivered by a registered mental health service in the Isle of Man. It runs initiatives that equip children and young people with the self-management skills needed to navigate the challenges of 21st century life. The Isle Listen team work with schools to promote positive mental health and wellbeing for all pupils in an age appropriate way; support parents and carers; and provide mental health awareness training to all school staff.

Under the Isle Listen banner MCH Psychological Services also provides mental health awareness training in the workplace providing bespoke specialist workshops designed around an Island community that signposts to local resource options.
Rebecca George presented the cheque to Gareth Nicholson from the Isle Listen team. Gareth thanked Chamber for the donation, and added that the £1,700 would allow Isle Listen to provide one listener to go into partnering schools for one month, and provide the training and supervision to support them.
