Meet the sustaining member interview with Augment

19 March 2024

Tell us about your business?

Augment is a firm of chartered accountants and business advisors. The word Augment means to make something greater by adding to it, so we’re all about adding value with our services and advice. Founded by Jon and Andrea, we aim to be an extension of our clients’ team rather than an external firm that deals with their accounts. We started working with businesses of all kinds (and still can), but we quickly discovered that our approach clicks perfectly with the construction industry.

What services do you offer?

We recognised that many businesses can’t afford to employ an accountant or finance director, which means they are missing out on expertise that could greatly improve their business. Therefore, Augment operate more like an outsourced finance team fulfilling the roles of bookkeeper, financial controller, and finance director.

We offer essential accounting services like bookkeeping, accounts, and VAT but they are paired with strategic advice focused on achieving the business goals set. So that might be making bigger profits, saving admin time, growing the business, or all three.

Do you have any events coming up or current projects you can share with us?

Yes - we're planning to run a series of webinars/seminars and workshops, in collaboration with the Chamber and Construction Isle of Man. Through these events, we'll be sharing insights, showcasing digital technologies for financial reporting, and hope to foster a community of learning and innovation.

Alongside our educational initiatives, we'll soon be launching a special promotion; a free mini-health check for businesses. The mini-health check provides a snapshot of your financial health and performance. We identify areas for improvement and suggest ways to fix them.

What are your plans and goals for the future?

Looking ahead, we’re looking to grow our understanding and offerings in the construction sector. We're keen on growing Augment, but not at the cost of our personal touch that defines our service. We love the one-on-one time we get with our clients, making sure they're set up for success.  Also, we have two young boys so balancing work and family time is important to us. We're determined to keep that balance just right.

Where are you based and how can people contact you?

We work from our home office in Ballasalla. We welcome inquiries through our website at www.augment.im where you can book a free meeting or contact us via email/phone.

Finally, why is Chamber membership so important to you?

Chamber membership connects us with a diverse community of businesses and professionals.  Offering opportunities for networking, learning, and collaboration is probably most important to us as we’re far from extroverts! It's also vital for staying informed and contributing to the local business ecosystem.
