A Partnership that Powers Patient Care: Stacuity and Hospice Isle of Man
Stacuity is proud to be the first HR consultancy customer of Hospice Business Services, a new initiative from Hospice Isle of Man. Through this partnership Stacuity gains expert outsourced HR support, and its investment directly contributes to local patient care.
About Hospice Business Services (HBS)
Launched in 2024, Hospice Business Services is an innovative commercial fundraising initiative by Hospice Isle of Man. It was established from a desire to diversify the charity’s income streams by leveraging the extensive skills and expertise already in-house. HBS provides HR and Finance consultancy services to other organisations, such as Stacuity, with all profits directly supporting patient care.
The finance service arm was launched first, led by Hospice’s Director of Finance Michael Taylor. This was followed by HR services, led by Hospice’s Head of People and Culture Anne Shorrock, which officially began in March. Stacuity is proud to be the charity’s very first HR consultancy customer.
Stacuity and HBS: A Smart Solution
As a scaling business, Stacuity faced a common challenge: the need for professional, expert HR support to manage a growing team and ensure compliance, without the resources or requirements to hire a full-time, in-house team. Outsourcing its HR function to Hospice Business Services was a perfect solution, gaining both expertise and a responsive service, whilst giving back to an essential local charity.
As part of this partnership Stacuity receives access to a highly skilled team of professionals who can handle a wide range of HR requirements. The HBS HR team is led by Anne Shorrock, a Chartered MCIPD. This highly respected professional qualification demonstrates a deep level of expertise in all aspects of HR. HBS allows Stacuity to focus on their core business, while also gaining peace of mind that their HR policies and procedures are compliant and robust.
Whilst discussing the service and its dual benefits, Anne said: “HBS is one aspect of our activity within Hospice to achieve a more financially sustainable position so we can ensure that all of our core services remain entirely free of charge to patients and their families. By using our knowledge and expertise in a new way we can generate profit and all profits from HBS go directly towards patient care. Engaging HBS to deliver your organisation’s Finance or HR requirements provides you with an extra, expert pair of hands when you need it and
the extra benefit of knowing that you are directly helping our charity to provide high quality palliative and end of life care to our community whenever it is needed.”
Stacuity’s CEO, John Freeman, commented on the unique value of this partnership:
“For Stacuity, this partnership is a true win-win. We gain the expert HR support that a growing company like ours needs, ensuring our team is well-supported and our business runs smoothly. This allows us to focus on our core operations with complete peace of mind. What makes this collaboration so unique and valuable, however, is the knowledge that every pound we invest goes directly towards funding patient care. The profits from this service are a vital lifeline for Hospice Isle of Man, and we are proud to be a part of a partnership that solves a professional need while creating a powerful, positive impact right here in our local community.
In addition to the social value, we benefit from working directly with a senior and highly qualified HR professional in Anne and her team. Their depth of experience, strategic insight, and hands-on support gives us access to a level of HR expertise that would be difficult to match in-house at our current stage. It’s a scalable and effective solution that brings both credibility and capability to our people strategy.”
