MANX TELECOM LAUNCHES MT CONNECT — EMPOWERING EMPLOYEES TO GIVE BACK TO THE ISLE OF MAN COMMUNITY

20 October 2025

Manx Telecom has launched MT Connect, a new community engagement programme that empowers its Island workforce of over 400 people to make a positive difference across the Isle of Man. The initiative gives every employee the opportunity to contribute their time, skills, and energy to local charities and community projects.

Through MT Connect, Manx Telecom employees can get involved in two flexible ways:

· MT Connect (Individual): Employees can volunteer for one day with a local charity or community organisation of their choice. When they do, Manx Telecom will return that day of annual leave in recognition of their contribution.

· MT Connect (Team): Teams can come together for a one-day volunteering activity during work hours — combining team-building with community impact.

“Manx Telecom has always been part of the fabric of Island life, and MT Connect is the next step in how we support our community,” said Kate Hegarty, Consumer and Marketing Director at Manx Telecom. “With more than 400 employees living and working here, we have an incredible opportunity to make a real difference. MT Connect gives our people the freedom and flexibility to volunteer for causes that matter most to them — from environmental projects to mentoring or helping local charities. It’s about connecting, giving back, and helping our Island thrive.”

The programme sits alongside Manx Telecom’s Marg McGee Community Awards, which provide £20,000 in annual funding to local causes. Applications for this year’s awards are open until 31 October, and community groups across the Island are encouraged to apply at www.manxtelecom.com/about/community/marg-mcgee-community-awards.

Karen Watterson, a Manx Telecom employee who volunteers regularly with local organisations Manx Breast Cancer Support Group and Mannin Cancers Support Group, welcomed the launch: “It’s fantastic to see Manx Telecom encouraging everyone to get involved in something they care about. Volunteering has always been important to me personally, and MT Connect makes it easy for employees to give back — whether that’s helping a local charity, supporting an event, or sharing their skills with others.”

Fellow employee Barry Dulson, who volunteers his time with Special Olympics Isle of Man, added: “Being part of Special Olympics has been such a rewarding experience — seeing the athletes’ dedication and joy is inspiring. It’s great that Manx Telecom is supporting staff to get involved in causes like this. MT Connect recognises the value of giving back and makes it possible for more of us to make a difference in the community.”
