Rossborough celebrates Vagabonds Ladies Rugby and their International Women’s Day Victory

Rossborough, a Gallagher company, proudly supports Vagabonds Ladies Rugby, a team that has been at the heart of women’s rugby in the Isle of Man for over 26 years. As the island’s only women’s rugby team, Vagabonds provides an inclusive and empowering environment for women aged 17 and over, fostering a strong sense of family, confidence, and camaraderie within the sport.

Last weekend saw the Vagabonds take on Littleborough for an International Women’s Day match, where the team secured a dominant 56-5 victory. Not only was the day a fantastic supporting success, but the event was a showcase of women’s sport, teamwork, and community spirit.

The day also featured a Women’s Day lunch, hosted by Gallagher, with 70 guests in attendance, including Vagabonds Ladies Patron, Lady Lorimer, who joined players, supporters, and sponsors in recognising the achievements of the team. The Unity Dance School also added to the excitement with a high-energy pre-match cheer, setting the stage for a memorable occasion.

Rossborough, a Gallagher company, is committed to supporting women in sport both at a local level and beyond.  Gallagher is an Official Partner of Women’s Rugby and a sponsor of the 2025 Women’s Rugby World Cup. Additionally, Gallagher is a founding partner of the High Performance Academy, an initiative aimed at increasing female representation in coaching and high-performance roles within elite rugby. However, grassroots initiatives remain a core focus, and the sponsorship of Vagabonds Ladies Rugby reflects Gallagher’s dedication to growing the game at the community level.

Commenting on the event, Tim Mitchell, local MD of Rossborough/Gallagher said: “We are incredibly proud to support Vagabonds Ladies Rugby and to see the impact of our sponsorship in action. Women’s rugby continues to grow, and events like this highlight not only the talent on the field but also the importance of creating opportunities for women and girls to take part in sport. It was fantastic to see such strong community support, and we look forward to many more successes for the team in the future.”
