LAW FIRM PEDALS ITS PASSION FOR LOCAL CYCLE CLUB

22 May 2024

That’s after DQ Advocates announced a partnership with Manx Viking Wheelers (MVW).

It has become one of the sponsors of the club’s new kit which is worn by riders both training and competing in the club’s spring and summer series, attracting participants from across the Island.

A mainstay of the Island’s cycling scene for several decades, MVW has helped promote and continue the growth of cycling in the Isle of Man. That has included encouraging locals to enjoy cycling around the Island, as well as nurturing and providing opportunities for a generation of youngsters who have come through the local cycling scene and gone onto compete successfully at world and Olympic level.

The club has a dual aim to develop the Island’s best young athletes and grow the sport at  grassroots level, running events and group rides, as well as supporting members to compete on the UK mainland.

The partnership reaffirms DQ’s commitment to ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) principles.

Last year, the practice established an ESG Committee, integrating ESG practices into its operations and, as part of that strategy, focusing on community engagement and supporting local initiatives.

Donna Matthews, Associate Director of DQ, said: ‘As part of our continuing commitment to supporting the local community, I am delighted we have agreed an association with Manx Viking Wheelers.

‘Cycling has always been hugely popular and high-profile in the Isle of Man and that passion has only increased over the past few decades thanks to the interest in Mark Cavendish and our other Manx talent.

‘A number of our staff are also keen cyclists and cycling fans so it’s a very exciting time for DQ to become associated with MVW. It's great to see the DQ logo on the branded jerseys and shorts for club members.’

MVW Director, Niall Quiggin, added: ‘We’re very pleased to have DQ Advocates on board as one of the sponsors of our new kit.

‘As a club, we run events to make cycling more accessible and an activity for all to enjoy, whether races or social rides. Supporting young people forms part of that and the benefits of cycling both for fitness and physical and mental wellbeing are clear to see.

‘Our 2024 season is well underway with events which are open, not just to existing club members, but to the wider cycling community in the Island so they can develop as cyclists at all levels and enjoy the sport.

‘It’s due to the support of DQ and others that we are able to provide invaluable resources to the Manx cycling community so a sincere thank you.’
